Planting seeds for
inter-generational enrichment
ARO Solutions exists to empower people with knowledge, skills and tools that ignites passion and self-belief in others.
We aim to provide indigenous solutions to improving outcomes by creating safe and engaging environments that build confidence and capability in others to value indigeneity, challenge the status quo and make a positive difference in what they do, and to the people they serve.
Services
Evaluation and Facilitation
At ARO Solutions we apply an indigenous lens to understanding how services and programmes meet the needs of the communities in which they serve.
We place whānau and communities at the centre of what we do, acknowledging the richness of their voice and experiences and the power this has to influence change.
We use Kaupapa Māori approaches to collect information and develop meaningful relationships with those that we work with.
Our approach ensures that our whānau and communities receive mana-enhancing support through their engagement with us, upholding our own values, but also those who contract us to work on their behalf.
Capability Development
Through ARO Solutions we deliver cultural capability professional development.
Our philosophy is taonga tuku iho, taonga tuku atu – meaning we take the lessons and learnings from our tupuna, sharing these in a way that builds the future we want for our mokopuna.
We aim to share knowledge and information in a way that builds confidence and capability to engage in a culturally conscious way.
Our programmes are tailored to meet the unique needs of schools and businesses, and considers the environments and communities in which they serve.
We offer both in-person workshops and online training options in both te reo Māori and English.
Guiding Principles
Our core values not only reflect what ARO Solutions stands for as a company, but the people behind the business, what we believe in and what we value in our everyday lives;
To make a positive difference to society
To create space where indigeneity is normalised and valued
To build confidence in others to do things differently
To ignite passion and self belief
Whānau defining, determining and driving whānau success
Whānau is at the centre of everything we do.
As a māmā, my purpose is to create foundations for inter-generational enrichment. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge, skills, story and experiences to help others.
I use my culture as my foundation and a teaching tool. My aim is to provide indigenous solutions and create spaces where indigeneity is valued.
Poipoia ngā kākano kia puawai
Carel has been working with our Masters of Teaching and Education Leadership students to support their understanding of working with ākonga Māori, as well as wider community and whānau to support success in learning and teaching. The students have always given amazing feedback to Carel and gained so much from her hands on sessions as she empowers them through strategies they can immediately apply to their own practice.

Te Wao nui a Tāne
ARO Solutions worked with the Mental Health Foundation to support the creation of workplace wellbeing resources for the New Zealand workforce. ARO Solutions worked with integrity and modelled their values throughout our interactions. Having their involvement lifted our performance and provided guidance and understanding in inclusion of Te Ao Māori concepts and content into our resources.

Whānau and Community Consultation
The National Tobacco Control Advocacy team of Hāpai te Hauora Māori Public Health were very privileged to have worked with Carel on a number of whānau consulation hui, to discuss and formulate strategies to support the reduction of supply of tobacco in our communities across Aotearoa. Carel provided outstanding facilitation for these whānau hui, leading with confidence and creating a space for whānau to share their whakaaro of tobacco within their communities.
